Hindi Edition of AMFI Workbook

AMFI has developed a workbook on mutual funds which is both a textbook and a manual on the concept and working of mutual funds. Based on this workbook, a computerized test for AMFI certification is carried out by National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and written test is conducted by UTI Institute of Capital Markets (UTIICM). So far more than 20,000 copies of the English edition has been sold out.

To enable agent distributors in the Hindi belt to study and pass the test AMFI has brought out the Hindi translation of the workbook.

Shri G. N. Bajpai, Chairman, SEBI while releasing the Hindi workbook appreciated the initiative taken by AMFI and felt that this would greatly help the Hindi speaking agents in the country to get themselves certified. The Hindi edition will be available from the office of the Association from October first week onwards.

Introducing written exam in Hindi

To facilitate the Hindi speaking agent distributors to take part in the certification programme and get themselves certified before the deadline of March 31, 2003 AMFI will be introducing written test in bilingual with an option to answer in Hindi or English.  This will be introduced from the Second week of October.

Launch of AMFI certification course on the e-learning portal of NSE.IT

Shri G. N. Bajpai also launched the AMFI certification course on the e-learning portal of NSE.IT known as finvarsity.This course accredited by AMFI covers both the Basic as well as Advisors module and the courseware has been designed by professionals associated with the mutual fund industry. Shri Bajpai mentioned that this is a very important initiative taken by NSE.IT and that with the growing use of web based learning, AMFI certification course would become easily accessible anytime, anywhere to the learners.

Shri Satish Naralkar, Chief Executive Officer of NSE.IT, which is the info tech arm of the NSE mentioned that NSE.IT has developed a e-learning portal, www.finvarsity.com dedicated to learning in the area of financial markets. AMFI certification course will be a part of this.  The course provides for interaction with faculty and question answer session through e-mail/discussion boards.For effective learning the course material is presented with rich video and animation techniques.

Progress of AMFI Certification

Shri A. P. Kurian, Chairman AMFI reported that AMFI certification exam initiated in July 2000 is being conducted by NSE through computerized test and from July 2002 through manual exam under an arrangement with UTIICM.He mentioned that till the end of August 2002, nearly 2200 employees have passed the test and nearly 6000 agent distributors have cleared the test. Written tests have been conducted in 34 cities and month by month programme has been drawn up to cover all important cities.With the introduction of bilingual testing facility it is expected that large number of agents would be covered in the coming months.Shri Kurian said that within March 31, 2003 he expects almost all the active agents would have an opportunity to get themselves certified.
